For
you and your home, building an arbor
for your garden may be one of the best ideas that you could have. These
items are beautiful, interesting, and let’s face it . . . cool.
However, before you speed off to the hardware store to buy all the different
kinds of accessories that you may think you need, you should consider
just a few things first.
• Price – There is nothing worse than starting a project
and then realizing once you are deep into it that it is costing way
more than you thought it would. You have two choices, and neither
are desirable. You can either stop and feel like you wasted your money
on an unfinished project, or you can finish the project out but do
so grudgingly because it is costing so much more than you expected.
You can rid yourself of this dilemma by understanding beforehand how
much a project like this will cost. Most estimates will fall somewhere
in the $300-$350 range when all is said and done.
• Time – Much like price, you are going to want to know
how much time it will take you to complete the project. In a lot of
ways, it just depends on you. For example, if you already have some
moderate to advanced carpentry skills and have another person with
the same skill level to help you, the project could be completed in
as little as a day.
However, if you are a novice and are doing the project alone, it could
take days or weeks to see the project all the way through. Even then,
your arbor may not look great. That means that you may have wasted
a lot of time and money on something that doesn’t even look
good.
It is your decision to decide what you want to do, but it would be
wise to at least consider these things before you become full-fledged
in your desire to build an arbor.
